Why convert SVG to TIFF?
SVG is perfect on the web, but many upload forms, Office apps and social sites won't accept it. TIFF is the archival and print standard: lossless, and accepted by almost every print shop.
SVG vs TIFF
| SVG | TIFF | |
|---|---|---|
| Full name | Scalable Vector Graphics | Tagged Image File Format |
| Type | Vector | Raster (pixels) |
| Compression | Lossless | Lossless |
| Transparency | Yes | Yes |
| Animation | Yes | No |
| Opens in | All browsers, design tools | Safari, desktop and print software; not Chrome, Edge or Firefox |
| File size | Tiny for icons and logos | Very large |
| Best for | Logos, icons, illustrations | Print, scanning, archiving |
- SVG is a vector format, so it is drawn as pixels during the conversion. The TIFF has a fixed size and won't scale up without blur.
- The SVG is drawn with its longer side at 2048 pixels, or at its own size if that is larger. Fonts and images it links to by URL are not loaded.
- SVG animations are not kept: the result is a still image.
- Chrome, Edge and Firefox can't preview TIFF. Open the result in Safari or a desktop app to check it.

SVG to TIFF, answered
All FAQsIs my SVG file uploaded to convert it?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, on your own device. Your SVG file is not uploaded, and no account is needed.
Will converting SVG to TIFF reduce quality?
The SVG is drawn as pixels, so the TIFF has a fixed size and won't stay sharp if you enlarge it.
What's the difference between SVG and TIFF?
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is a lossless vector format mostly used for logos, icons and illustrations. TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) is lossless, supports transparency, and is mostly used for print, scanning and archiving.
Can I convert many SVG files at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 SVG files at a time. Each converted file uses one of your 3 free conversions, and they are converted one after another in your browser; Download all saves each TIFF as its own file. The Filo app is free for life, with no daily limit.
