Why convert SVG to BMP?
SVG is perfect on the web, but many upload forms, Office apps and social sites won't accept it. BMP is what older Windows software, label printers and some industrial tools still expect.
SVG vs BMP
| SVG | BMP | |
|---|---|---|
| Full name | Scalable Vector Graphics | Bitmap image |
| Type | Vector | Raster (pixels) |
| Compression | Lossless | Lossless |
| Transparency | Yes | No |
| Animation | Yes | No |
| Opens in | All browsers, design tools | Windows apps and all major browsers |
| File size | Tiny for icons and logos | Very large, uncompressed |
| Best for | Logos, icons, illustrations | Legacy Windows software |
- SVG is a vector format, so it is drawn as pixels during the conversion. The BMP has a fixed size and won't scale up without blur.
- The SVG is drawn with its longer side at 2048 pixels, or at its own size if that is larger. Fonts and images it links to by URL are not loaded.
- BMP has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white.
- SVG animations are not kept: the result is a still image.
- BMP is uncompressed, so expect a much larger file.

SVG to BMP, answered
All FAQsIs my SVG file uploaded to convert it?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, on your own device. Your SVG file is not uploaded, and no account is needed.
Will converting SVG to BMP reduce quality?
The SVG is drawn as pixels, so the BMP has a fixed size and won't stay sharp if you enlarge it. Transparent areas become white, because BMP has no transparency.
What's the difference between SVG and BMP?
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is a lossless vector format mostly used for logos, icons and illustrations. BMP (Bitmap image) is lossless, has no transparency, and is mostly used for legacy Windows software.
Can I convert many SVG files at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 SVG files at a time. Each converted file uses one of your 3 free conversions, and they are converted one after another in your browser; Download all saves each BMP as its own file. The Filo app is free for life, with no daily limit.
